Disneyland is truly a magical place and is hopefully something all kids can experience. For some, a first trip to Disneyland is a once in a lifetime vacation. For others, it’s the first trip of many. Either way, it is an expensive destination and you want to be certain it’s a well-planned adventure. While there is a ton of Disneyland information out there, I had a hard time finding a step-by-step guide for how to actually plan our first trip.
Hopefully the below steps will help you with that process.
Disneyland Step 1: When to go and Where to stay
You’re going to Disneyland!!!! Hurray!!!! And now you’re about to be broke… Ha! Just kidding… well, not really… I think having a well thought out plan for your first trip to Disneyland is so important.
Disneyland Step 2: Research and Plan your “General” Daily Itinerary
Now that you have everything booked, you'll have a bit of a wait before you really need to do anything else. This is a great time to do some research for your trip.
Disneyland Step 3: Dining in Disneyland – make your reservations!!!
Oh, eating in Disneyland! I have friends who LOVE the food in the parks and literally dream about it when they are not there. I have other friends who think it’s a disaster… I think it’s all about leaning into the experience and letting go
Disneyland Step 4: Learn the Lingo
Do you speak French? Chinese? Latin??? If you do, then you are probably good at learning a new language. Me… not so much! I lived in Italy for 5 months in college… Ciao! That’s all I’ve got. Well hopefully you’ve got some skills at picking up new lingo, because you’re going to need it to make it through Disneyland.
Disneyland Step 5: What to Pack
If you’re staying in the parks for your entire visit and not renting a car, you really must pack and bring everything you need. There isn’t a drugstore in downtown Disney – I forgot baby swim diapers… the baby didn’t get to swim.
Disneyland Step 6: Create your Touring Plans
So by this point, you should have your trip booked, your dining reservations, your packing thought through, and a general idea of what you’ll be doing each day in the parks. The final step in planning your trip to Disneyland is to fill in the blanks on that itinerary and get a lot more detailed with your plans.
